Practical details and Trekking services:

8 days Mt. Everest Kalapatthar Trek: The journey begins with a legendary flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla (2,840m). Often called the "Gateway to Everest," this flight offers your first spectacular views of the Himalayan peaks and sets the stage for the trek ahead. The trek continue to ultimately leading to Kala Patthar. Standing at 5,545 meters, this represents the highest elevation of your trek. After taking 360 degree's spectacular views, descend to the helipad just below Kala Patthar to catch your helicopter flight back to Kathmandu via Lukla.

Traditional trekking to Everest Base Camp / Kalapatthar and back to Lukla can be time-consuming and follows the same return route. Instead, our itinerary takes you from the lower elevations all the way to Kala Patthar (5,545 meters) for the ultimate view. To maximize your experience, you will return to Kathmandu by helicopter, saving time while enjoying a breath-taking aerial panorama of the Himalayas.

Difference Between Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar:
For panoramic Himalayan views, Kala Patthar is better than Base Camp. If you are fit enough to handle the high elevation, you can explore both in a single day.

Mt. Everest Base Camp: Mt. Everest Base Camp is located on the Khumbu Glacier at an altitude of 5,364 meters, where you stand on a mix of ice and rock debris. Because the glacier is constantly moving, the base camp shifts slightly every year.
You cannot see the summit of Mt. Everest from Base Camp; you can only see the Khumbu Icefall, which is one of the most dangerous stages of the Everest climb.

If you trek during the spring season (late March to May), Base Camp transforms into a vibrant "yellow city" of tents pitched for climbers, guides, and doctors. During the autumn season, the camp is much quieter and often empty of expedition tents, offering a more serene and untouched mountain environment.

Kala Patthar: Kala Patthar is the true photographic climax of the Everest Base Camp trek. The name Kala Patthar translates to "Black Rock" in Nepali and Hindi. Located above Base Camp at an elevation of 5,545 meters, it offers a bird's-eye view of the entire glacial valley.

From Kala Patthar, you look directly at the South Face of Everest, the South Col, and the famous Hillary Step area near the summit. It is the perfect spot for a 360-degree panorama. When you reach the top of Kala Patthar, you won't just be looking at the Himalayas, you will feel as though you are standing among them. We will stop for lunch at Sanasa a beautiful place with Thamserku panorama. After a short rest to soak in the views, we continue with a gentle descent to Phungi Tenga, situated by the river.

Moving from Tengboche to Dingboche marks a major shift in the landscape. You leave the lush rhododendron forests behind and enter the high-altitude alpine zone, where the trees disappear and the terrain becomes rugged, wind-swept, and starkly beautiful.

Breakfast + lunch + dinner with hot drinks.  Lodging at Dingboche   Approx. 5 to 6 hours.

The trek from Dingboche to Lobuche is one of the most physically and emotionally impactful segments of the Everest Base Camp (EBC) journey. While the distance is relatively short, the thinning air makes every step a deliberate effort.

Morning journey: The trail begins with a gradual climb out of Dingboche, heading northwest. You’ll walk along a wide, high-alpine plateau with the Pheriche Valley below you to the left. The views are spectacular, featuring Ama Dablam, Taboche, and Cholatse.

After about 3 hours of steady walking, you’ll reach at the top of the pass (alt. 4,830m.), a beautiful plateau. This is the Everest Memorial site, home to dozens of stone chortens and prayer flags dedicated to climbers and Sherpas who lost their lives on Everest.

From the pass descend and cross the river, you’ll reach at Thukla (alt. 4,620m.) This is the standard spot for  lunch break before the day's hardest climb to Labuche. After lunch trek continue to Labuche.

Labuche: Lobuche is a key stop on the way to Everest. Despite its high altitude, the lodges here offer good services and comfortable beds. Your guide will select the best available accommodation to ensure you get a good night's rest.

Breakfast + lunch + dinner with hot drinks.  Lodging at Labuche.   Approx. 6 to 7 hours.

The trek from Labuche to Gorak Shep 5,164m. is the final approach before reaching Everest Base Camp / Kala patthar. While it is one of the shortest sections in terms of distance, it is often considered one of the most mentally and physically demanding due to the extreme altitude.

The Journey Above 5,000m:  After breakfast in Lobuche, we begin our trek toward Gorak Shep. This is one of the most unique stretches of the journey, as you are now walking above 5,000m. at Khumbu glacier, in the thin, dry air of the high Himalayas. It is very common to feel winded, dizzy, or to develop a headache during this trek.

As you approach Gorak Shep, the trail crosses the moraine and Glacier. This is often the most technical part of the day, involving rocky, uneven ground that demands focus and steady, slow movement.

Key Advice: Do not try to rush this section. Rushing at this altitude significantly increases the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Take your time be slowly step by step. Drink 3 - 4 litters of water. The air is extremely dry, and dehydration exacerbates altitude symptoms. Eat simple, high-energy snacks (nuts, chocolate, dried fruit) to keep your blood sugar steady. You may find your appetite suppressed by the altitude, but try to eat something nutritious in the communal dining room upon arrival.

Gorak Shep: We aim to reach Gorak Shep in time for lunch. Gorak Shep is the launching point for two major objectives: the hike to Everest Base Camp and the sunrise climb to Kala Patthar. This small settlement is the final stopping point before Everest Base camp / Kala patthar.

After lunch just relax at you room keep warm your body, early dinner go for bed, tomorrow early morning you have to ascent to Kala patthar ridge.

Breakfast + lunch + dinner with hot drinks.  Lodging at Gorakshap Approx. 4 to 5 hours.

The trek from Gorak Shep to Kalapatthar is arguably the most important climb of the Everest Base Camp journey. While Everest Base Camp is the "destination," Kala Patthar is where you actually get the iconic, unobstructed view of Mt. Everest's summit and other several Himalayan views in 360-degree.

Ascent to Kalapatthar: Wake up before 4:00 in the freezing dark of Gorak Shep. Sip a hot ginger tea or coffee and fuel up quickly. Switch on your headlamp and begin the steep, zigzagging path. The trail is made of dark, loose rock and scree. At 5,545m. you are breathing half the oxygen you’d have at sea level. Pace yourself, expect to stop every 10–15 steps to catch your breath. It will take roughly 2 to 3 hours to reach the top.

The Summit: The Kala patthar Top 5,545m. is marked by a cluster of boulders draped in colourful prayer flags. It is often extremely windy and freezing cold temperature most trekkers stay for only 15–30 minutes to capture photos before the cold sets in.

The Panorama: This is the ultimate "face-to-face" view of Mt. Everest. From this ridge, you can look directly down at the Everest Base Camp tents, Khumbu Icefall and glacier. The 360-degree view includes Pumori, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and even Makalu in the distance.
